3 Important Rules When Posting Listing Pictures On MLS

There are several guidelines as a Realtor and/or Seller that you should follow when listing your property on MLS, specifically in regards to real estate photography.

1. Use relevant pictures.

As a real estate photographer I recommend using only the pictures that are important to a buyer. Kitchen, master bedroom, living room etc. Don’t bother using artistic angle shots of the chandelier, because nobody cares. You have an upload limit of 9 pictures so make them count.

2. Optimize your pictures for MLS.

Always save a copy of your pictures with an aspect ratio of 640×480. This is the accepted standard for pictures posted on MLS. Any other dimension will just make your photographs look stretched out and distorted.

3. Always use the virtual tour button.

A good real estate photographer will provide you with a link for the virtual tours button on MLS. This link should lead to a landing page that includes tons of goodies like a picture slide show, 360 virtual tour, agent information, maps etc.
